Sara Felton, a determined cyclist from Jersey, has achieved an incredible feat by cycling over 1,000 km (621 miles) through three European countries, raising more than £4,000 for Cure Leukaemia. Despite only having started road biking three years ago, Sara took on this ambitious challenge, following the eight women’s stages of the Tour de France earlier this month.
Sara, along with six other women, cycled through Holland, Belgium, and France over the course of a week, averaging between five to nine hours on their bikes each day. Her journey was not just about raising money for a good cause but also about pushing her personal limits.
“This was the first of many cycling challenges I plan to take on,” said Sara, reflecting on her achievement. “Most people called it bonkers, but for me, it was all about the personal challenge. Cycling has become a huge part of my life, something I’m incredibly passionate about, and I wanted to test myself.”
She also offered some advice for those considering a similar journey, emphasizing the importance of padded shorts: “It’s the best thing you’ll ever buy if you’re planning a long ride.” Sara’s adventure highlights the joy and fulfillment that can come from setting and achieving personal goals, even when they seem daunting at first.
As she looks ahead to more challenges, Sara’s passion for cycling continues to grow, and this recent accomplishment is just the beginning of her journey.
